LIDL 'FIT FACTOR 2010' NI RUNNERS UP
Smiles all round as the school clinches second place in the Northern Ireland 2010 Final of ‘Fit Factor'. As the regional winner for County Tyrone, the school went up against five other regional winners, fighting off stiff competition to take the ‘Runners Up' spot.
Mr Meenagh, (P4/5 Teacher) who led the project in the school, commented, "The children and I are absolutely thrilled with this fantastic result. We are proud of our success in the competition and delighted that the school now receives a prize of £3,000. In keeping with our school's policy of promoting the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices among our pupils, we have decided that the money will go towards playground development."
Principal, Mrs McAuley, added, "This is a commendable endorsement of the standard of learning which was evident in our school's innovative ‘Fit Factor' project entry. All credit is due to the Primary 4 and 5 children whose enthusiasm and creativity shone through at every stage. Our sincere thanks goes to the parents and families of our pupils, our Governors, friends of the school and the wider community for the extensive support we received in the online voting process. This is yet another opportunity for celebration here at St. Mary's PS!"
