2012 has been a busy year for all concerned with St. Mary’s PS Carland with a packed programme of celebrations for the school’s centenary. Now, it’s just about to get better with the ‘Grand Finale’ in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown, on Friday 23rd November 2012 at 7.00pm. This will surely be a night not to be missed.
On display on the night will be the old Carland School Registers of the past 100 years. No doubt these will jog a lot of memories for all past pupils. These have never been out of the School in 100 years and this will be a unique opportunity for past pupils to see their entry in these historic books.
Also on display for those who attend will be a preview of the new book about the school which is set for release early next year. Many rare old school photos stretching over the past century will be on view - some of which have been collected from past pupils as far away as America.
In case anyone gets too sentimental on the night, May McFettridge will provide some light-hearted entertainment after the teas & coffees. Then it’s to music and dancing with a great group, Hype, to keep us moving. And if you don’t feel like dancing, a slide show will be exhibited showing highlights from the Past Pupils’ Concert in February, as well as well as some of the other centenary events which took place.
It’s going to be a great night of nostalgia, reminiscing, meeting old friends, dining, comedy, dancing and celebration for all associated with Carland or Carland School.
