Yesterday, to mark World Book Day, we were celebrating all things books, authors, illustrators and reading!
We completed a carousel activity with 9 different stations including:
~ Paired Reading - The children read together ~ Design a Cover - The children created a rating for their favourite book and discussed why it was their favourite book. Next it was time to create a new cover for your favourite book! ~ Create a bookmark - Time to get creative, the children designed their own bookmark to take home! ~ Characterisation Station - Our children thought about their favourite character, described them and drew a picture of themselves dressed as their favourite character ~ Illustration Station - The children followed the 'Draw with Rob - Create a Character' tutorial video to illustrate a character, adding their own touches to make them unique. ~ Animation Station - Using Play-doh, the children created their characters ~ Story Corner - Time to sit back, relax and listen to Tracy telling a story! ~ Audio Book - Listening to some of Roald Dahl's classics, the children ~ Book Quiz - The children took part in a quiz, checking their knowledge of modern books, classics, authors, illustrators and characters!
Our children were thoroughly engaged all morning, it was a wonderful way to focus on, reading for pleasure, supporting children's autonomy in book choice and embedding a habit of reading that brings a wide range of benefits!
